Default Will this affect anyone here?

From the new regs;

(3) Seasonal Snaring Restriction: In order to reduce the potential for accidental harvest of Grizzly Bears, seasonal snaring restrictions will apply for Fur Management Zones 4, 5 and 6. For the period October 1 through November 30, the use of snares is ONLY ALLOWED in the following WMUs of Fur Management Zones 4, 5 and 6 (WMUs 314, 316, 318, 320, 322, 324, 330, 332, 334, 336, 337, 338, 348, 360, 410, 412, 414, 416, 417, 418, 507, 508 and 521).

affects myself, and many others i'm sure. nothing new.

silly regulation IMO. a 50cent BAD eliminates the issue. problem solved.

unfortunately not everyone uses BAD's. so alot of folks lose 2 months of the snaring time in those WMUs.

It is odd they include 416, 417 and 418 as all three WMU's have a good population of Grizzleys. It's been like that for quite some time.

It effects allot of people, and your rite Paul a 50 cent bad would solve the problem. Some are really against change and moving forward with proven equipment. These really work good, I have 3-4 insedentials released every year from elk- moose - cows- deer. A coyote snare with a 285 bad would barely break a bears stride. I would worry about a wolf snare with a 750 bad on it.

Even with a BAD I'd be worried about catching a cub. Wouldn't want to walk into that situation.

could possibly hold off on snaring wolves until dec 1.

wanted to add.

if a person looks at the gear the CO's use too deal with problem bears in bc.

a coyote/lynx snare with a light weight BAD wouldn't affect any size/type of bear.

If we only had 800 Grizz in Alberta like the biologists believe the probability of a catch would be almost 0%. The problem we have is that we have way more than 800 and their is the potential now for by-catch. I do not believe most coyote or wolf snares would ever hold a grizz for long even without a bad, However it would have been alot simpler to change regs that bad must always be used in high grizz population wmu's.

Maybe the lightweights wouldn't hold a cub but I'd rather not take the chance. To each his own.
