Default Getting a guides licence in Alberta

I'd like to get a guide's licence but can't find any info on how to go about it. I had one about 8 years ago when I worked for an outfitter but not since then. I have a hunting buddy who's brother came down from Arizona to hunt with us this year, under the hunter-host licence system. He can only do this every three years but would liketo come down and hunt with us again next year. In order to do this he needs a guide,as I undertand it. I figured maybe I could get my guides licence again and act as his guide. Any idea where I could find that info?

You talking about the old Class C guides license? Think that's gone by the way and you just apply to be a Hunter Host.

Since he has been here on a hunter host permit, he must wait three years to reapply. If he wants to hunt big game here next year, he must go through an outfitter. The outfitter will have the allocations required.

You could guide him if you can:

Find an outfitter with the allocations and he was willing to sign you up as a guide and allow you to guide your friend.

To qualify as a guide, you must be a Canadian resident and signed up by an outfitter. You also cannot hunt on any day you are guiding your hunter.

With a hunter host permit you are allowed to hunt with your guest.
Hope this helps.

Default guides designation

hey boss, it isnt just that you need to have a guides license. you still need to hold an allocation for the species he intends to hunt, ie, moose and elk. you can rent those allocations sometimes off of certain outfitters but then you need to also purchase your outfitter insurance. last i checked that ran 1500 per year. unless you are a full blown outfitter the hunter host option is the only feasable way. take care, rob.

Different rules apply to non resident Canadians and non resident Alien( resident from a different country like the US) Read the regs on page 23 of this years book and everything will be clear.
