Default Help Identify This - Please

Can any members identify this piece of machinery. I took a short cut through some bush while bear baiting and stumbled on this but I have no idea what it really is. Is it a steam governor? Land owner says I can have it if I can identify it.

A drill press or one of them hammer... basher/steel...bender things

What ever it is it was run by the belt off a tractor. That should help with when its from.

Some kind of drill or something can't fine no Lange Tool Co, looks to me like you crank that handle and the gears rotate the shaft?

Well, it is old and it is belt driven.
It appears it was designed to be floor mounted, not a piece of mobile equipment.

It is not a conventional press drill but it could be a specialized drill.

However, I suspect it is a can sealer.
There are two gears in the head, (Left hand side at the top.) so it was designed to turn something, and it turned slow judging by the large drive wheel and relatively small gears in the head.
The leavers position indicates it was used in conjunction with whatever turned but it is too short and of the wrong type to be for significant downward movement therefor I believe it was used to clamp of hold something.
It was and is common practice to roll the rims of can lids to seal the can.
I think that may be what this machine did.
