Default First Rise of the season

It was -1. I could see my breath. My hands were cold. The sun was almost down. The geese were loud. The muskrat chewing away less than 3 feet from me.

Then I saw it. Wasn't sure at first. But then I saw about 1/2 dozen more.
Rainbow rising to feed.

I felt like a little school girl.

Can't wait to hit the water in a day or two and land one!

Saw my first few rises of the year yesterday on Prairie. Tossed a dry into the riffle and after a pretty good battle landed a nice healthy brown trout of some 16".

there were a few critters crawling out and some rather pale flies of some sort flittering about but very little activity, pretty chilly water too. clarity was good.
