Default reloading powder for 30-378 weatherby

Just wondering if someone out there could tell me a good powder for loading my 30-378 weatherby. Tried Reload 22 but don't seem like enough powder in the casing to me. The reloading data I had said 84.5 grains. Maybe a different powder with more grains. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

IMR 7828 is the fasted listed powder in Nosler #6 for the 150 to 200 grain bullet range although not nessesarily the most acurate. I'm sure it will be acurate enough though.
R22 is actually one of the slowest.

Weatherby Cartridges like the Hot Loads. My 240wby,300wby& my cousins 270wby mag all strive with accuracy and velocity useing IMR 7828,could just be coinsidence in our rifles, but Dad and I have Tried multiple powder's in our weatherby rifles and the IMR 7828 is the sure winner.

A month ago there was a guy on here with a weatherby that had no accuracy,I told him to try IMR 7828,he did and well all his shots were touching at 100 yards useing the IMR 7828.I'm sure he will chime in once he reads this thread.I forget his user name.

I would try Retumbo or R25,7828 is on the fast side for such a large case.

I've had very good luck with 7828 in almost all of the cartidges I've tried it in, including the Weatherby's.

Retumbo, have loaded alot for this cartridge, will be the best speed for ya too. I push 180gr at 3530 fps 112 gr retumbo. 5.5" 3 shot group at 1000 yds. All other 30-378 i loaded for were at 110.5, 111.0, 111.5 and mine likes 112 gr. Load in 1/10 gr too, i found with all the guns i loaded for you would get two shots right tight, if not in same hole, then there will be a flyer, when you get to this point your only a few tenths of a grain either up or down. just what i have experienced in 4 of them guns. And loaded all at 3.600" c.o.l. fed primers. You will soon be a barrel cleaning freak when your runnin these big magnums. good luck.

I've used both Retumbo and IMR 7828 in the one I load for, both work fine.

Retumbo looks to be about 100 to 200 fps second faster than 7828 over the popular range of bullet weights but I have yet to find data for R25.
