I'm a dyed in the wool Varget fan, for its consistencey in metering, temperature ratings, accuracy and its versatility in so many different calibres.
Plus, I can get it shipped fro the same plcase I buy my shotgun powder from!

H414 gave the best velocities in my 22" barrel, no matter what the bullet - until I tried RL17. I had slightly lower velocities with all varget loads I tried and have not tried RL15.

I use varget because I can use it in 3 of my guns with excellent results.

Varget here too, 2950fps, out of my T3, and that's without pushing max.

I started staying away from ball powders like H414, and WW760 because of irratic results in real cold weather.

Default manual

Barnes manual says RL15 was the best powder in their testing.

I decided to give IMR4320 a try behind 120gr BT's. Although muzzle velocities vary by 30fps, grouping is moa or better. I'm going to stick with it for now.

Use whatever you can find. I've used both with equally pleasing results although in my opinion Varget burns cleaner. If that matters.

I have both available but only want to purchase one at a time,...they seem so similar to my inexperienced reloading eyes, that I wondered if one seemed to stick out as a bit better, all around...

I think I will try Varget

I haven't shot 120gr in mine but 130 140 and 154 all seemed to work a tad better with IMR 4895 than either Varget or RL 15 in a Shilen Select match barrel on a Savage action.
