It's a whopper of a calibre and will knock over anything you shoot with it. However, the ammunition is expensive and you won't find it easily on a trip if you need to.

If it's moose and elk you want to hunt, my 7mm Rem Magnum has never failed me. You will also get arguments from guys who use a .300 and .338 Win Magnum. Not to mention all of the guys a have a .30-06 and wouldn't trade it for anything.

However, if you already own the rifle, enjoy it.

Fantastic caliber. I reload, so it was never an issue regarding cost and availability of ammo. As long as the 35 whelan remains popular, or the 358 winchester, there will be some bullet options. Even though it was famous for its 250 grain load, I found that the 225 Nosler worked the best for me. Elk, moose, no problem.
This gun does pack a punch. About the same recoil factor as my 9.3x62, and .375 calibers, but better trajectory than either.
IIRC, I am using 4350 for the powder. Once I had the load developed, I made up enough rounds to last me a few lifetimes!!
Tradex currently has some nice original huskys for sale in this caliber. They originally came out with this cannon, but it was overshadowed by the .338 WM which came out about the same time. Ammo has always been an issue for it (pricey and hard to find) that is why reloading is highly recommended.

Can you say "Bang, Flop"? It's a lot of horsepower for anything in Canada.
