I have a ESAB multimaster 300x(newer version of the 260). It's a multi process machine that welds stick/mig/tig. I have used it here and there to fix some trailers, steel carts, a cast aluminum pump(what an adventure) and build some gongs. I am not a welder but if I can make most welds look good with this machine, it's a good machine.

I don't know much about the different welders, or their full capabilities but I picked up a Lincoln Mig pack 180 a few years ago on sale at CT. The duty cycle, adjustability, gas fittings and ability to run big flux core made it attractive.

Mine came with a lame hand held face shield, but a chipping hammer, gloves, and auto darkening helmet from PA, and I was welding.

It runs on 230V and lets me lay a nice, good looking bead on pretty heavy steel.
