They are still out there. The blue car had lots of rust. Cut out & replaced with new metal. Hand make some of those parts.

Interesting that you went with a manual in a drag car. 50 years ago some guys would modify 4 SPD's for drag racing. Going from memory here but I think they would take out the synchros and bevel the gears to make a crash box that could be shifted faster. Is your tremic modified?
I just love it that you are building it yourself. That and its not all metric and plastic. Its cool to see something different.

Pintos came out in 1971. First ones I see & thought "That needs a V8" !
Brother was into racing Mustangs, 70 Cougar etc with big heavy 428 SCJs.
Plus spending lots of money to make them fast.
I had many interests. Ski-Doos, Dune Buggies etc.....so I started with a 72 Sedan. Got it finished with a 302w, 3 spd FMX & 9" diff, 4:11 gears.
Turned in the 12s ! It got squished between two full sized cars (and didn't blow up LOL) so built another right away.
Body shop guy thought it funny to put an extra set of tail lights in it.....
This 2nd one was built for a BOSS 302. Bought the engine for $200.00 !
Life for me was changing, sold the B2 engine & put the 302w in it. Sold the car.
People shake their heads at me building them. But anyone that has driven one of rode in one will understand. Very fun cars & go fast with low HP.
