If there was someone local you would be adding to the cost

Best bet besides ordering direct is to order through Mystic Precision, cost works out to about the same as direct, wait time varies depending on if Jerry is placing an order or not at that time, he usually orders once a month.

I'm fine with paying a little more to support a local business. Usually they will go out of there way to help you if something goes wrong with the product

Default Group ordering from USA

The first lb of any parcel is by far the most expensive charged by both USPS(~US$35), Boyds(~US$30? 1st stock) and CBSA(CA$1o), additional is USPS US$2.70/lb, Boyds ~US$7/stock, CBSA CA$0.

IMHE the key to cost effective buying from the USA is to make all orders as large as possible.
This is best facilitated by forming a group to maximize cost savings.

The maximum US$ price (not including shipping) of firearm parts that can be exported to Canada without permit is US$500.

Depending on specific stocks selected, US$500 will buy 3-4 Boyds stocks, and smaller items can be used to fill the max allowable for export without permit
Post a message asking to form a buying group in your area. One person must assume leadership to hold deposits, place a combined order, receive and distribute products and costs.
I have done this several times and have seen net savings of 17-27%

Like any activity, the first time is the hardest, and there is a learning curve.
Once you learn the proper procedures, there can be very substantial cost savings and easier (& much quicker) access to products usually hard to find stocked in Canada.

Good Luck, YMMV.
