Default I've got a pretty good wife!

My birthday was on the 21st and then Christmas on the 25th. The wife and I decided not to do Christmas for each other until Boxing Day. She got some pretty cool stuff but I just couldn't find what I wanted. Then she suggested going to Cabelas.

I'd been eyeing up a new .22. I have my 10/22 and I really like it but I'd been reading a lot about the Remington 597. They had the heavy barrel version on sale so we picked that up.

Next was Bass Pro because they had their Pursuit brand 3-9 tactical style rimfire scope on sale from $100 down to $50. It's not the best scope out there I know, but I have one on my 10/22 and one on my sons and I really have no complaints with them at all.

Get home and go to mount the scope on the rifle and realize that the base rail that comes with this particular version of the 597 is a weaver style, not your typical .22 style. That ends the assembly as I had to leave to go to work.

During the week she actually made the trip to Wholesale for me to pick up the new rings while I was in Medicine Hat. I got home and there they are, waiting for me to mount it up. So now I have it all together, boresighted, and ready to go do some shooting. Since that might not happen until Sunday now, I may drill out the spot for the front sling post so I can put a bipod on while I sight it in. Either that or maybe pick up a sandbag since I still have to get my sons new rifle sighted in as well.

I got a saddle pad for Christmas. Not sure if she's thinking of me or my horse.

I sure try. She's doing a great job running the house while I'm away AND looks after runing the kid around all over the city with his sports.

It sure is. She really does take care of me and is always keeping me on my toes with the stuff that she comes up with for me.

I think so. And thanks to you and some of the other great members of this board, it helps keep the family that much happier. Happier means more time in the outdoors doing those awesome things that we love to do.

Hopefully both. There are 2 sides to a saddle pad.
