Default Looking for gunsmith

HI I'm new to the forum, I was wondering if anyone has a good gunsmith to recommend. I have a Mauser M98 I'm looking at customizing. I want to cut and weld on a longer bolt handle, I find the one I have to be awkward to cycle the action. And mount new iron sights on it as well. I find my eyes hard to adjust to the small sights thats on it right now. Just curious if anyone had a good gunsmith they'd recommend to do the work. Thanks in advance

Where do you live?
There's little point in going half way accross the province if you don't have to.

FYI there is more work to be done once a bolt handle has be cut off and a new one welded on . The receiver will have to be worked on so with the new bolt handle can rotate into the receiver and come into the proper position so the lugs are in the proper locking position.

Also (in most cases )the stock will have to be inletted for the new bolt handle.

If you are going to do the work your best to cut off the bolt but use a new bolt handle , the one that you cut off can be used but it will probably be short .

I'd highly recommend Rod Henrickson if you don't mind a drive to Edmonton - http://www.rdhgunsmithing.com/.

Thats the plan, I want the bolt to be cut off and a whole new one welded on. I've did my research and know what is to be expected. If they cut it off at the right angle & weld the new one on properly, there shouldn't have to be any work done on the receiver. I've got a a new unfinished wood stock coming and figured I would have to notch for the bolt. And minor tweaks here and there for the barrel and action
