Default My Rifle shoots under 1/2MOA at 300M all day. Really? Prove it.

Another "CHALLENGE" for those who like to shoot at 300M. THE RULES
* distance must be 300M. But 300 yds is OK for non-metric shooters
* no restrictions on rifle, caliber, bullets, rest systems
* must shoot five consecutive groups with five shots in each group on a single target panel. Five groups only, not best five out of seven!
* no group may exceed 0.5 MOA measured C -to - C
Posting results
-pic of all groups on one target panel with group sizes in inches and MOA conversion
-pic of smallest group with caliper
-pic of rifle and rest system used to shoot groups
The rules are thye rules...no whinning! (but you can ask questions )

Calculating MOA for 300M
Group size / divided by 3.28 / divided by 1.047 = MOA

Calculating MOA for 300 Yds
Group size / divided by 3 / divided by 1.047 = MOA

I'll go first. Results are from today, Mar 06. Temp -7C. Headwind was light (but darned cold).
Rifle is chambered to 30BR. Barnard action / Reibin stock / Krieger barrel / CG trigger.

Default 300 M Challenge

Thats a fine shooting, great looking rifle you have 260. Maybe we could start a "Pinks" for rifles! Naw, got too many now!

Why MOA? 1.5" is very close and less confrontational.

Congrats!

Dale - the challenge (as are all of the "challenges") is off CGN - it is not an original idea ...kill two birds with one stone. It's a CHALLENGE, not a contest. If you'd like to shoot sub 1.5" groups, that's fine Suppose the snow is still too deep for you to get to 300M in the north country?
Smokinyotes - Edgewood rear bag.

Got to the range today but -10 C facing into a 20 K breeze had eyes watering profusely. This "Global Warming" ain't happening fast enough for me. I will shoot the challenge and post results as they come in.

My "shoot'n" eye is so bloodshot from keeping it open against the wind during this challenge today, my wife wondered if I got pink-eye. I told her that would be impossible as I stayed home to do housework all day

Brrrr tried to cheat by getting some test loads down range after work today and damn near lost a finger when my staple gun came apart... Weatherman says should be +4ish on the weekend...

Work and family issues are keeping me from doing anything else at the moment.

Don't we wish we were all retired with a grown and gone family. Then we could shoot everyday too.

Suggestion at the Range today to give credit to the smith chambering the rifles used to shoot successfull CHALLENGES. The 30Br pictured early in this thread was chambered by Karl Schmidt and stock-work by Paul Reibin.

Drum, Rocky Mountain, or homestead private ranges.

Drum and RM are 100-120$/yr. homestead is more and difficult to get into and keep membership.

Replacing pic no longer displayed by PhotoBucket. Also have a pic of the rifle as shot that day but don’t know how to get it off PhotoBucket.

I understand you never liked the idea of the “prove it” language in the Challenge but there is nothing I can do to edit to make you happy. As you are no doubt well aware, the original “challenge” series was taken from CGN and used the same thread language. Suggest if you want to rail, you take it up with the original OP on CGN ... it is sticky’d there in the Precision section so easy to find.

You're right about that, but regardless of my opinion on the wording...I should keep my nose out of it if I don't actually have something constructive to add. Broke my own rule! lol However...If several people set-out to achieve the same thing then compare the results, that's one thing. If you get great results @ 300m then basically ask if anyone else can prove that they're as good as you, that reads differently to me.

Whatever the case, I'll keep my nose out of it.

The thread I started based on the CGN model differed in that no comparison was intended. The chap on CGN edits his OP to include “the best” which does promote comparison...but I did not follow that model because I wanted it to be a personal goal.
