Default early june slave lake

im heading up to the spruce point, faust area for the first couple of weeks in june. thinking of entering the derby on the 9th and 10th. how is the fishing there that early in the year? are they on the 30 ft break like they are at the end of summer? most years i head to shaws point in june but its almost shooting fish in a barrell the last couple of years there with the low water level.

Default Shaw's

The water isn't very low at all this year. I've got to go to Shaw's on Tuesday, I'll snap some pics for y'all.

Ditto, the water has come up a lot in the last two weeks.

The beach and shoreline has disappeared fast, and is littered with logs and debris from all the raging rivers and creeks feeding the lake. Look out for deadheads this summer!

There was a log that they pulled out of the creek running through downtown Slave Lake early this week that was so big that the button-top log truck unloader couldn't pick it up entirely. They had to lift one end at a time because it was so water logged and huge. The creeks coming out of the Swan Hills were racing for the last week and the you'll see the difference in the lake level when you get here.

The fishies are not in 30' of water that early in the year. You may find 'em in way less water and in case you haven't heard...there's a one walleye limit for the summer.

June and July tend to be the better months for this lake, fish are fresh off spawning and are hungry.Dont go into deep water at that time of year as the fish seem to prefer the 5-10ft range, once you find a spot that produces it will likely cough up a ton once you find it.This year it is a 1 fish limit for Walleye, the population is not in trouble as you will find out, just under alot of pressure and the goverment decided to step in before any major damage was done.
