Default where to fish Lac Ste. Anne?

Hey everyone.

I've never been to Lac Ste. Anne for ice fishing before and would like to get some directions on where is the best place to get on and if it's safe to drive on? (I guess this question is relative..)

I'll be heading out from Northwest Edmonton..

I don't drive on that lake. Too many spots with thin ice.

Went on Sunday to Yellowstone area. It was very very slow my son got 1 good size whitee. I saw 1 jack and 1 whitie.. Interesting that there wasn't much action and not many people fishing.

Default Lac ste.anne

Where to fish.....for what?

Over the last few years the catching for anything but walleye has gotten pretty
tough. Perch are rare, pike.are on the "short" side and whites are where
you find them...Whites can be had throughout the lake at different times...scattered early season...deep at this time(commercial fishery) and shallower within a month or so. In the next month I would try the areas out
front of Ross Haven/Yellowstone or the big flat at the Mission...This is where the burbot come to spawn and historically, the whites follow.

Walleye abound throughout the lake..one has much better luck on or near structure...the rocks of gull island, the "reef"(road bed)from rock island to the east shore line, yellowstone , and parts of the west basin around Farming island.

As for access...Alberta Beach will be most used. Depending on flood water and
snow you will be able to follow the tracks to the island and towards the "reef"...north of the pier. The areas along the north shore(GUNN) will be hit and miss depending on traffic...Same as the south shore/Mission area.

Off West Cove again traffic dependant towards the island....STAY AWAY from
the narrows bridge.

I went to the west cove close to farming island last Sunday. Lots of pikes, big or small. I caught about 11 pikes in about 4 hours. the weather was beautiful. not very much fishmen. but no walleye action, not at all. I was hoping to fill my last walleye tag. little disappointed but really enjoyed to pull those pikes.. I will post some pics later.

We'll have to give it another shot... We're mainly looking for whites.

I just found it strange that there wasn't many people on the lake when you compare it to Sylvan or Gull.
