Default 44 special dies

Hello i reciently bought so 44 special dies to reload for my 44 mag and i was told that they should work. The dies worked good for depriming and sizing but when i went to seat the bullet the casing wont go all the way into the die. Any ideas why. I had to leave for work before i could do and further digging into it. TIA

44 Special case length is 1.16, 44 mag 1.285. Seating die isn't deep enough but you should still be able to seat bullets not problem, just raise the die. You can even still crimp when you get it set right.

I have the adjustment backed all the way out and it seats before even hitting the cap. I can basicly seat them by hand so maybe i will just try the crimping die once i get it to length.

Huh?

Can you post some pictures, because what you describe makes no sense.

Im at work so i cant. But the seating die depth adjustment is backed all the way out and the bullet seats before it hits the cap. Its like it gets seated from the sidewall but the casing doesn't go all the way in it stops about 1/4" short of the base of the casing. Its wierd because the sizing depriming dies goes all the way in but the others dont.

I will never apologize for being a hunter

Back the actual die out about four or five full turns, then adjust the seating stem. The inside of the die is too short for the longer magnum case so yes the bullet is hitting the top of the inside of the die and seating into the case before it hits the bullet seating cap..

-Put a sized and flared case in your press.
-With no die in the press run the case and the press ram all the way up.
-Now loosen the clock collar on your seating die and screw the seating die in till you feel it contact the case on the ram.
-Lower the press ram to its lowest position.
-Turn the seating die in about 1/4 to 3/8's of a turn more.
-Set the lock collar on the seating die.
-Run out the seating stem on the seating die.
-Through a bit of back and forth you should now be able to set your seating die for a mild crimp.
-If you want more crimp, just loosen the lock collar and screw the seating die in about 1/8th of a turn more. Remember to back off the seating stem to make up for the lowered die.
