Aqua vu vs marcum uw cameras
Last year I bought an aqua vu 360 lcd camera, mainly for ice fishing but for other uses as well. The first time I turned it on, there was a crack sound and the camera body filled with green smoke. Somewhere in the manufacturing process there must have been a short circuit. So I returned it for a new one without any problem. The one I use now still is not satisfactory considering the hefty price of $ 650. The contrast control doesn't always work and the buttons don't always light up. Also, of the 4 cameras in the system, only one seems to pick up much light. I am quite unimpressed with this supposed top of the line camera. My question then, is should I go with a different line or different brand altogether? Have heard some good things about marcum...

Used to have an aqua-vu scout worked OK the first year then crapped out completely. In 2011 I bought a Marcum. I can't remember the model but it is black and white and I think I payed $450 through cabelas (US). I built my own stand for the camera and have not had any issues. It has been a pleasure to use. getting about 6 hours out of the battery.

I recommend marcum because they have a great customer service. Last month, my camera was leaking and the warranty was out. I called them and they sent me new camera for free

i have had an Aqua-vu scout for 5 or so years now with no problems, had to replace the battery last year that's all. Get anywhere from 6 to 8 hrs life out of it.

i have a gen 1 aquaview Z thats well over a decade old now.
second battery. still going strong and puts out an image just as clear as my buddies marcum 385.
But his was cheaper, has a bigger screen and is in color.
Today id buy the marcum....current reviews on the aquaview stuff leave a lot to be desired quality and service wise.

I still have my aqua vu scout - works good, good picture too. But also have 2 marcum 825's and an 820.
Marcums are the way to go.
