Default Quantum Accurist S3 PT Baitcast Reel

Guys whats your thoughts on the Quantum Accurist S3 PT Baitcast Reel ? I was considering a much more expensive Shimano. The only problem is the Shimanos don't have a Flippin’ Switch. I like to use the Flippin feature to vertical jig walleye from the boat . I will be matching this reel if i get it, to a 6 foot GLOOMIS IMX rod.

I have a couple of these. They r a good mid grade reel. The flipping feateure is real nice jigging and trolling and bottom bouncing. On my rods that I do a lot of casting (bass fishing) I do like a bit more reel such as smoke.

Do the smoke series have a Flippin Switch?

As far as I know the only reels with a flipping switch are the accurist, abu silver max and a couple models of lews.

I picked up the New Quantum P3 smoke from Cabelas . It looks
amazing. The 25% off made it a done deal.

I bought an accurist 2 years ago from cabelas and used it one weekend, don't know why I haven't been able to get out much the last couple seasons other than an annual trip at the end of May. Spent more time clearing rats nests than fishing so I went back to the spinner haha. That said, if you're interested and logistics work I can give you a great deal on it if you want to shoot me a PM. Better than sitting in the garage collecting dust I'd think.

I have 2 of them. For the price they are great. Landed my 22lb laker with one this winter and no issues with drag. Wale led flawless. I use it in summer for jigging and bottom bouncing. Flippin switch for me is a must for a few applications. Quantum also has the new Energy with a flippin switch back this year

I've always used Abu Garcia Ambassadeurs. Going on 43 years with my 4000D and still smooth as silk. Believe it or not, I have never had a backlash with that reel or some of my newer Garcia ones. Touch wood.

You have decided to go with a top of the line rod in the Loomis so why not pair it up with a top line reel as well. Shimano

I just bought an Abu Garcia Revo last weekend.....I looked hard at the accurist too and the flippin switch is what almost sold me on it but I really like the Revo so far from the field casting I've done with it.

Many of my reels are top end Shimano. The Quantum P3 Smoke Bait Caster has a plethora of 5 star ratings . The reel feels good on my G Loomis IMX . Casts super far with full backlash control. I was torn between the Curado and the Smoke. When the Smoke went on sale pricing the reel from $229 to $165 ,I couldn't resist. Time will tell. So far I really like the Smoke and all the reviews are strong on it .

Whatever you use is your choice.. Wonder why you chose a bait caster for jigging?

I also love the bullet proof reliability and super silky drag on Abu Garcia reels.

I have some pretty old ones that are still better than many new ones, made by other manufacturers, right off the shelf.

You get what you pay for.
