Hatfishers First Mule Buck
Well I finally got my first Mule buck. Not Huge, but good enough for me. 4x4 Mule buck, heavy body but not measured yet. Got lucky on this one, he made it easy. Was on the move to check another spot after seeing a few does that presented them selves at 100 yards, just on the other side of a creek that would have made retrieval nearly impossible, so we passed on them and moved to our next location. While on the way I noticed some odd coloring in a patch of red willows. I glassed the willows and here is my mule buck beded down right in the middle. Well I thought like I'll get a shot before he is doin mach 10 outta there, but figured it was worth a try. I stepped out of the truck and slowly made my way around the patch of willows lookin for a clear path to take a shot. All this buck did was watch me, never made an attempt to get up. Well I found my shooting lane and made a nice neck shot on him with my .270 at 25 yards. Down he went with out getting up. One very proud moment for me.

took him in to get proccessed, skinned and deheaded he weighed in at 164Lbs, so yeah he had a pretty heavy body. My cousin missed his first Mule buck today aswell. Not as big as this one but a good one for a first.

Nice Buck
Jamie
At least you shot the right sex this year.
Remember last year at the drowning ford.

That's a nice deer for sure!
25 yards? couldn't get closer??
Reminds me of the time I had my 6.5WSM zeroed for the "500 yard zero" longshot, and shot a deer at 35 paces!
Someitmes they just surpeise you and stay put....

Nice deer. Great first buck. I would guess him in the 150's but it is tough to tell with the pics.
