You need to get a doctor's certificate for that if you want to use it in the archery season.
You could however, see it in the general season.

Like Cat mentioned the mechanism already exists for those who are unable to draw a bow back. Talk to fish and wildlife to see what requirements need to met.
Good luck, I tried getting a temporary permit because I snapped my biceps tendon and couldn't. They especially won't issue a permit because you're getting older, you'd need to have no use of an arm on a permanent basis. Best bet is to amputate one limb

At one time an amputated limb was the only way to get a crossbow permit, but that has slacked up a bit and is based on individual basis pending on situation...no harm in trying, as mentioned above first step is contacting F&W
you can print off the forms on the Alberta relm or the srd site i believe . there are 2 forms , one for the dr to fill out confirming your disability and the other is a request from you to get the permit.
I printed them and took them to my specialist i see , degenerative disc disease in the neck affected my shoulder and ability to pull 40 lbs of bow strength at 24 inch draw length . this is a bit of a bunch of BS as we are all different . i pull 30 inch and usually 70 lbs . though 40 is hard now ,but still need to draw my 30 inch lenght but they say 24.
gives you 1 special permit for 3 years only and you have to resubmit .each year has its own permit for it.
Anyway doesn't hurt to get a professional opinion and apply if you want to hunt the archery season .
Its a bit of a let down as i have hunted archery for 30 years and have the best time and enjoy archery better than anything else .
at least i can still hunt though it is not the same at all .
