Default PAL - Medical history?

Will make this quick.

So, I am on the waiting list for the Canadian Firearms Safety Course.

I just printed off the PAL application forms from the RCMP website to fill them in ready; plus I can get my references to get them signed ahead of time.

So, to the question. I was ticking of the boxes, and I get to one asking about mental health, have you suffered from depression etc, but the application doesn't ask, or require you to send in any medical history, a waiver to have your medical history released to them, so what stops people who do, or have suffered from depression simply ticking no?

Big brother??

I don't know.
Do they still ask if you have experienced a relationship breakdown?
I remember when I applied years ago I had my current wife sign the documents.
Fast forward 6 months ( separation)and she's telling the court via affidavit that I have firearms in the house and she wants a police protection order. WTH.
The judge saw right through that phoney act.... Thankfully.

Ya. It's stupid.

Unless you have been involved in a hospital stay against your will, it's honour code.

But, people believe that we have checks in place, so that is all that matters. It's all about optics.
