Smile Moose guides?

How about a recommendation for a moose hunting guide? No, I'm not a resident....no I'm not a rich Yankee, I'm only a hunter who would love to score on an Alberta moose and don't know where, or how to go about it.

If you can't or won't give me a name, how about telling me how to go about it? Who should I contact or where should I be looking?

I'm not looking for a record book moose.... I'd be happy as a clam with a small bull with paddles.

You either need to have a hunter host or go through an outfitter. There are better places to hunt moose than Alberta right now. The numbers are way down.

It is my belief that the Moose population is strong, all though I never seen a whole lot of monster bulls in 510 last season. I did see an average of 3-4 moose a day during both Archery and Rifle season. The Elk population is doing real well to.

I guess it depends where you are hunting. A few areas where we used to hunt that used to be great, it's tough to even find a moose. Mainly due to wolves and a large number of tags being handed out. It also doesn't help with some of the oilfield roads that have been put in in the last five years. Easier access means more hunters.

Perhaps that's where I should start? How much should I expect to spend? I sure can't go with the Shockeys out of NWT, but I sure don't expect a $2000 trip either..

BC is a good choice. Not as much money as the territories and smaller moose but does offer some incredible scenery with a pretty good chance at a book animal if you travel far enough north.

It is better then Yukon or nwt for moose numbers aswell.
