Meh, feeding granola-crunchers to the Grizzlies should take some pressure off the elk...

I would imagine that is true. Why wouldn't it be?

But why can't you have both?

I agree. I have no problem with those that wish to run such operations, and I also enjoy watching wildlife as well.

Small window of hunting and all year to the tree hugging leaf lickers to get there pictures, no need to scratch your *** pondering why there's more money from tourists.
Just my opinion

If I was an outfitter offering GB hunts there, I would pander to the tourists the rest of the year and run a year around operation. Tie the whole thing up. That would give me a pretty big voice on both sides on how things went. And the anti's would have a harder time arguing that I didn't have the GB's interests at heart.

I have my not-totally-unfounded suspicions that having both doesn't fit the point of this study.

I have zero problem seeing viewing taking in FAAAAAR more revenue than hunting.

That said, this definitely isn't an either-or proposition for one simple reason.

GB viewing likely only happens in a couple places, closer to civilization (or at least a tourist destination). GB's are pretty habitual and the eco guide will likely target viewing of the exact same bears, likely in protected areas.

GB hunters/guides tend to get a little more 'out there' into places where an eco-tourist operation wouldn't be sustainable.

Pretty easy to do both, as they are likely separate bears used for each activity.

Global is Anti news and they love to cover the anti propaganda

Look at how many outfitters offer grizz hunts and it is easy to see there is a lot more than 11 jobs involved in the grizz hunt
