haha i have a funny story about trying to pull a deer out of a steep valley in one of those.

i sat on the deer and my buddy drove the sled. of course he didn't have a big paddle track and there wasn't any solid snow to grip on so we would peter out up the steep bits and start going backwards.

ohhhh that was a fun day

it would have worked really well if we had more traction

Perhaps it's bad luck and you should sell that unit cheap? To me? LOL... Just kidding!

Do you think you could get them to jump in the back of the truck, too, because that's another issue I have if it's a big animal.

My truck has a 3" lift on it so it's much more difficult to get a whole carcass in the box although i do have a deer hoist if I don't want to bust my back.

For larger game, I just carry out the quarters.
I don't like game carts, I don't like most packs so I carry it.

Now a moose, if I ever get one, it'll go in the tub trailer.

Last elk I packed I cut in half, strapped it to me kids sled and bombed off the mountain/hill.
Took 6 hours.

My oldest girl was 13 at the time and helped pack the gear, guns, liver, heart and ran a rope to stabilize the load on side hills.

Next time, big stuff gets quartered and packed out on the trapper Nelson.

My back does not aporeciate my macho stupidity anymore.

Usually it's my hunting partner(s) dragging them out. The last moose was with the help of a John Deere. We hoisted it up so we could gut, skin and quarter. Butcher was quite happy, no hair except for evidence of sex and species.

Guys for elk or moose very simple. Cut into quarters. Hoist first quarter on your back and start walking. When you get tired lay quarter on log and walk back to kill site pick up next one. You are wresting while you walk back. Keep up until all animal at truck.

I have a great pic but I can't seem to find it right now so I will just tell the story, my old man was swathing barley late September, I was home servicing the combine and got a phone call from him about a bull moose on the south west corner of the fiekd, I grabbed my bow and off I went. I walked out to the corner with my greasy clothes and all, I gave 3 grunts and bam there was a nice young bull on top of me, one arrow later he was laying dead 20 yards from the field edge. Backed the swather into the willows and used the getting stuck chain and yarded him out to the field. That was the easiest bull moose I ever shot and the tastiest, all grain and alfalfa fed.

Used to use Honda trikes, then came the quads and now I use an Argo. Not an option packing out meat on foot in the swamps out here.

I typically hunt an area of very steep hills, with the truck and the bottom, so getting my deer out is a pretty easy task.
Moose , when I actively hunted and guided , were always hunted close to the river as a rule, and never too far, but they came out in pieces quite often.

You are ALL doing it WRONG! Here's how its done, in STYLE!!!

Ok maybe its not all that, but I can load it in the truck myself, don't need a trailer to pull it and I think I should be able to take things out in moderate size pieces.
