Sask moose down

Was out for an hour with my brother calling on day one of a week long hunt. I squirted some cow moose pee on a few of the trees around us and this guy snuck in behind down wind of us. He was probably watching us for a few minutes until I noticed something different in the trees. All I could see was a dark patch between the poplars so I brought the binos up and “there’s a moose.....a bull!!!.....bro.....bro..a moose!! My brother had his back to me and I was jabbing him in the side with my elbow.
So we both stood up and mr moose was starting to figure things out and went broadside as he turned around to get outta Dodge. I raised my lever Gun cocked the hammer and let a 220gr soft point fly hitting him in the neck as he stood no more than 60 yards away. He dropped in his tracks, I approached him and although there was no movement I put another behind the ear.
I couldn’t be happier to be able to go home with some moose meat . So now I can visit with my folks and family for the rest of the week as I am all done.

Thought you could hunt moose as a canadian resident if you have a guided moose tag375$ and if you use the outfitter only. Correct me if I’m wrong....knowledge is power.

Guide who is cousins man.
Strictly meat hunter so couldn’t careless with antlers. Besides. Couldn’t afford to have taxidermy work done
We buthcher all our own which saves money and isn’t hard anyways.

So what zone were you hunting in ?? You said you were hunting with your brother-- not an outfitter. A non-resident canadian can NOT hunt with his ' brother ' in Saskatchewan and I'm sorry, but according to the game regulations you ARE still hunting while sitting beside your moose, holding your rifle and no red or orange colours. Not many hunters take an extra camo coloured jaket and hat for the glory shots after. In case the regs were not read, you must also have a red or orange head covering and vest or jacket while hunting . Not trying to rain on a visit with your brother while enjoying a very tasty moose but if the guide was not with you you were not guided !!!

If he’s originally from Sk, he’s probably hunting as a Sk resident.

Apparently a guy can't post a pic and SOME of the details without facing the supreme court of douche baggery. Give it a rest people.
He was hunting in a zone called Saskatchewan lol.
He also said cousin was a guide.
Is it possible to put an orange layer on top of the regular camo? Don't need to buy warm orange clothing if you only use it once in a while.

I believe you can hunt moose on reserve lands if guided by a Native of the reserve in Saskatchewan?

As long as he's a Reg Force member and a Sk resident at time of enrollment, he's a considered a resident. He hasn't done anything wrong. Nice moose by the way.

So my cousin lives in Saskatchewan but the only way I can go hunt with him is if he's an Outfitter or I get drawn for Whitetail I guess I should look up the regs for Saskatchewan thanks

non-resident CAN NOT hunt with a buddy or a cousin or brother. He must use a REGISTERED guide-and only guided moose tags are available in zones 60-62 and the very far north zones. Being in the armed forces or RCMP does not get you a tag any more, you must be a current Sask resident. I'm not jumping on him or picking but as far as the story is going he's not legal. Again, what zone was the OP in ???

A Saskatchewan resident is a:
· Canadian resident whose principal residence is in Saskatchewan, who has
been living in the province for three months prior to applying for a licence
and possesses a valid Saskatchewan Health Services card (including RCMP
members);
· member of the regular force of the Canadian Armed Forces who is stationed
and residing in the province or who was a Saskatchewan resident when
recruited or deployed from the province.

Good shooting, and sweet rifle! I'm heading out with my iron sights Marlin for deer soon as well! I have yet to take a big game animal with the ol' iron sights.
