It just came back big time while back in the bush. Gas cap trick improved the situation, but it's still there.

The fuel pressure was tested and considered on the low side, but not concerning. I don't let it get much below half a tank either.

Some vehicles are really effected by the gas cap, maybe replace it as step one, but then it looks like the fuel pump if that isn't the cheap fix, just my 2 cents.

I totally concur with your diagnosis I would follow that up with removing the battery cables off the battery and rub the terminals together for 30 secs..it resets the PCM and LTFT's

Hey SB. Thanks for your previous post.

The part you highlighted (fuel sending unit, or something like that) was cracked and replaced upon the initial service a year and a half ago. I've only put 6K on it since but it's worth taking a crawl under to take another look.

UPDATE: Ran around town a bit with the gas cap loose. Seemed better, but still iffy. Going on the bad gas theory, I dumped half a can of Seafoam into it and topped up with Octane 94 again.

Two days later, I headed out hunting to the same place again It's only 85km from home. Was -15c. The area requires 4x4, and there is a section of road that is quite rutted. The stalling issue returned with a vengeance. Was honestly concerned about getting out. Since then, on pavement, it's recovered to occasionally hinting it wants to stall, but doesn't.

Thinking the rough conditions are stirring up crap in the tank and potentially causing fuel pump intake problems.

Going to change out the fuel filter and do an autopsy on it.

I will get it into a shop maybe in the new year. I haven't worked much this year, so have to watch the budget a bit with Christmas coming.
