Default gear oil for my outboard motor

It's my first motor and never changed the motor gear oil. I should use API GL-5: SAE #80 to #90 according to the manuals. Is it the same thing as gear oil API GL-5 SAE 80W90?

I just never did it before, sorry for the naive question. lol....by the way, where to buy this staff? John

Yes, that's the same thing. Available at Canadian Tire and sold under the quicksilver label.

Watch a short video on you tube - pretty easy to do. Break open top screw, break open bottom one and fill from the bottom which forces the old stuff (and any water) up and out of the top hole. Easy peasy.

I recommend a quality synthetic gear oil and not a blend. The blended oils are just a marketing ploy. The synthetic will handle the temperature swings a lot better than mineral based oils.
