I'm in Edmonton but travel all over Alberta for work. I'm coming through Mornville later today. How much are you selling them for?

I was approached last night on my way into the pub on 17ave in right here in Calgary by someone with a beaver for sale. I politely thanked her and said no.....I’m not bear hunting this year, so what would I do with a beaver

For $15 might be worth just looking at it, probably no where near that cheap though.

If beavers are good for bait what about bacon grease? I don’t bear hunt but never dump it down the drain and keep it in coffee cans. Wouldn’t that work good smeared all over your bait sites on the trees? Have some here if anyone wants is?

Works very well, but not as good as a stinky beaver. It’s nice of you to offer though.

$20 a beaver is too much IMHO.

Im still finding lots of people selling them skinned for $10-15 per beaver (even the big ones). Shop around.

Not worth my time selling for less 20$. Rather just keep them for my self.

If you are buying 50 Beavers I can see $5 per making a difference. If you are buying 5 or less, how much gas do you want to burn to save a max of $25. In the overall cost of hunting I consider this penny wise and pound foolish. Close by, and available when I want them make a far bigger difference than 15 vs 20 dollars a carcass.

Make sure that what you are buying is skinned. It is illegal to waste the fur of a furbearing animal. Also know that muskrats are illegal to use for baiting bears.

Yup. Around here $20 is the going rate for Large+ and $10 for Medium- but if you want to drive north far enough you can find them for $15. Gas is expensive these days and there's not a lot of money in beaver for a Trapper. For me it's more about providing a service to people that need the beavers thinned out and to bear hunters for bait. I'm sure as heck not getting rich at $20/beaver carcass......lol.

So if you kill problem beaver on private land do they still have to be skinned for use as bear bait?

If you are selling them they have to be skinned. In the Trapping Regs under Sale of Wildlife.

If I was giving them away or using them myself i’d Still skin them just to avoid unnecessary questions......but that’s just me.
