Default Thoughts on Rugers Ar556MPR ?

I'm looking at a few ar platforms in 5.56
Of coarse I'd like the best and greatest but.......
I have a $1000 budget that I'd like to keep capped at the moment. So looking at mid range new/used rifles.
I came across the Ruger Ar556MPR which seems ok right out of the box. 1:8 twist rate, forward assist, m lock hand guard and a two stage 4.5 lb trigger.
Anyone on here have experience with this rifle? Any cons? If its good or crap I'd happy to here hands on experience.
Any others models recommend at my price point?
I appreciate advice.
Thanks

What type of shooting are you going to be doing? Are you going to keep it stock or modify it?

I was looking for an entry level AR and bought the original Ruger AR 556 a few years ago, and I've been completely happy with it. The rifle you're looking at has a mid-length gas system, while mine is carbine length. The MPR also has a free float hand guard and better trigger, so it's a step up from my rifle, which is pretty comparable to the S&W M&P Sport II model.

I'm pretty new to AR rifles, but I picked the Ruger at the time because of the generally positive reviews I read and the price point. At the time I was considering the most basic AR of all, a Norinco, but decided to spend a couple hundred dollars more for an American made rifle.

The other ones I looked at were Windham Weaponry and some of the lower end model Colts. I've heard some good things about the new Savage AR too. I'm pretty sure it would be hard to go wrong with any of them.

As far as type of shooting......mostly just a fun toy in .223
I may try 3 gun in the future but that is yet to be determined. Just started ipsc and having a blast doing it.
I currently have an Ar10 from WW and super happy with the rifle. But now looking at ar15's because parts of my range have a cap on caliber size.
Thanks Scott n for your feed back on the Ruger.
It is what I'm lean8ng towards.
