Default Open Water Spring 2019

Hey fellas,
Anyone heard of open water yet?
Specifically around Calgary, such as dalemead, Bruce etc?
Last I saw glenmore reservoir is still ice covered.

Also, open water report general thread.

Went out to Carson today to check it out. About 2 feet open at beginning of boat launch, thats it.

When the ice is just half off of the stocked trout ponds fishing can be hot using spinners cast right onto the ice and pulled/flipped into the water, let drop before reeling in.

Lakes South of Calgary are free of ice. Fishing boats are on the water already.

Default Chain Reservoir Stocking

Chain Lakes reservoir was stocked yesterday with 15000 3 to 4 inch rainbow trout fingerlings. Since Calgarys facility is under renovation, these guys were from Cold Lake, according to the ASRD operator.
