You claim to have grown up rurally where all firearms and ammunition were stored lawfully? Must have been a firearm free household.

Glad the kids ok. Thats all that maters here.

There were no storage regulations when I was growing up in rural Saskatchewan, so yes firearms were stored legally. My coyote rifle was an AR-15 which was not restricted, and it was carried around in the truck anytime I was out in the country. There were trucks parked next to the school with firearms in the rear window rack. But when the firearms laws came into effect, I obtained my FAC, then my PAL, and I stored my firearms legally. I find many of the regulations to make no sense , but in order to avoid being charged for violations, I comply with the regulations.

That resume should give you a dose of reality. But I don’t see it in this thread?

It's possible they were stored legally and the 13 year old kid put two and two together. Anyway, no more speculation for me.

My point was, that the only way to show how stupid some of the regulations are, is to enforce them strictly, and get people riled up, and demanding that the regulations to be changed. If you simply don't enforce them in sensitive cases where someone gets hurt, people are more tolerant of stupid regulations, and nothing gets changed.

Kid's these days don't get any firearm education by the time I was 13 I already knew very well how to handle a firearm.
Schools should have at least minimal firearm awareness course what to do if you find a firearm etc.

Laughing! Did you learn your firearms safety at school?

No, at church one of the leaders of the Christian version of the Boy Scouts I was attending at the time was a certified trainer and in Manitoba that includes firearm safety. I was 11 or 12 at the time.

Can't say just how many times I took a gun to school and I grew up in Winnipeg so I don't have the farm boy excuse

I took my hunter training as a scout, and my PAL in a classroom. But that’s not where I learned to hunt nor to be safe with a firearm.

Yes in cadets in grade 7-8 it was optional after school
We had firearm awareness in grade 6 a cop came and told us what to do if you find a firearm there was even a commercial on TV back then.

In the 1960's firearm training wasn't a joke (laughing)

How about you as a parent take on that responsibility?

My point is, that snowflake training isn’t really going to save lives, nor is it even remotely applicable here.

really ? the 13 yr old should known how to handle the firearm if he would have had at least some knowledge the incident wouldn't have happened.

So his parents are snowflakes?

Do you have some insider knowledge on what happened here?
