This might save me a few bucks. Last week I dropped my van off at the dealer because the transmission lost 4th gear. Everything else on it was fine. The service advisor noted that the mechanic troubleshot a bad cabin heater motor while on the test drive, which was working perfectly fine for me. Certainly its possible for a mechanical thing to break at any point, but the circumstance sure seemed unwanted to me (they'd replaced it before on warranty when it really did break in my presence). This time they said no warranty on the heater motor so my reply was 'Sorry, but no. I'll do it myself. They wanted $340 and I can buy it for $60-ish on RockAuto.

The amusing thing was when he told me they had removed my glove box to access the cabin heater motor, I had a laugh about that because in the glove box were two empty Glock magazines that I was keeping with me to give to a friend the next time I saw him, they were right on top of everything
