Thats a great looking mount, great character on him. I like his dark muzzle, catches the eye.

Cougar taxidermy in Calgary did the work

I was looking to fill my mule deer draw east of Calgary. It was a morning where things had not gone as planned, I was late getting to my spot, and I made to much noise getting across the field to my blind (I rushing to get there before first light).

After two hours sitting there and seeing nothing i decided to relocate and check out a willow patch that the mule bucks sometimes bed down in.

When I got to my first vantage point I glassed the bush and to my surprise 400 yards away standing in the middle of the bush is a nice mature whitetail and he disappears out of my line of sight. So I get down and crawl to a better vantage point which was 170 yards closer(400 yards would have been outside my abilities). I get there and the deer is still there and I have a clear shot so I take it.

Gross score is 171 deductions are significant so I ignore the net score in my opinion it doesn't do this deer justice

First reaction: "Mmmmm!" as in, "that there is a very nice deer!"

Congratulations!

What I got out of this story is YOU knew your abilities, not launching lead and possibly wounding that animal. You harvested that deer humanely and having to crawl and still find that buck in the bush is such good storytelling. Much Congrats on your deer, you did it the hard way but the best way.
