Default It rubs the lotion on its skin lol

Well I pulled one too many all nighters putting my coyotes up and now I'm wide awake and up brushing coyotes. Anybody else doing last minute work tonight?

I've said it before but I'll say it again. I swear I will work on putting up my coyotes from the start of the season next year.

Been there, done that.....lol! Thanks to Kingrat's advice about using borax instead of washing them like I usually do, it took a lot of pressure off of putting up the last few before the last receiving date. Something to consider doing if getting close to crunch time.

Some depots got an extended deadline. The two closest to me did not extend the deadline. I thought about driving down to see Marty but I couldn't make my schedule work out to make it worth it. That and it's a 6 hour drive.

The borax works great! Between that and careful skinning I quit washing coyotes. I do think a washed coyote looks and smells better but I don't think it's enough of an improvement to justify the hassle and increased drying time for me.

For the benefit of anyone new to putting up coyotes......I found that after washing a coyote and flicking out as much water as possible, let them hang for a couple of hours with a high powered fan blowing on them. That two hours saved me a whole day of drying on the board.

I wash my pelts in in a garbage can and lug jerry cans of water out to the shed.

I get all the grease out of the fur at the butt though.

It is possible that I will wash coyotes again in the future. Like Dave I was hauling water and trying to wring them out. I had a hard time justifying the extra work.

When I get a better work space I'd like to have a washer and running water.

Just got back from the city dropping my pelts off.

I dont put up my own dogs and the skinner doesnt wash em ,as a result a few of them come back a little dirty . So I find spraying em down slightly with a mister bottle to get hair a little damp and then work in borax cleans better than doing it dry . Then use air compressor to fluff and blow out any remaining borax and its remarkable the difference .
