Question Interesting campsites between Calgary and Elkwater Cypress Hills?

Howdy folks,

We'll be headed to Cypress Hills (Alberta side) for the first time in August. I'm thinking about finding a place to stay halfway that might be interesting. We have seen some neat little municipal campgrounds or at river crossings in Central Alberta and was thinking about spending a few nights halfway before we head down to our reserved sites.

Hookups aren't needed, and it's a 28ft trailer so not a massive rig.

Anyone have any places they enjoy? I've stayed at Park Lake out of Lethbridge before but I don't mind meandering the secondary highways down to Medicine Hat. Likely take the shorter route through Brooks.

Thx

Phone ahead the morning that you are travelling and reserve at Crawling Valley at Bassano. Take your fishing rod and drop a line at the canal mouth for Walleye and Pike. Can't keep them, but they're still fun.

Easy pull from there to Cypress.

I have no suggestions but we're in Drumheller right now after sending a few days at Elkwater lake. My first time there but it definitely won't be the last. A beautiful place. I have no intention of telling others about it. Most haven't heard of it or know anything about it, I'd like to keep it that way. During the week, there is hardly anyone there.
Plus there's free mini golf! FREE MINI GOLF!

Dinosaur Park is nice. Check out Steveville as well. Close to Dinosaur.

Have heard really good things about Rolling Hills also.
