He has made the NHL 15x richer since he took over. He might be hated by some, definitely not the players or owners though. He also did the same thing with the NBA ! I can't stand the guy either but he just might be a modern day genius !

Kudo's to Calgary boy Cale Makar, number 4 overall!

Watched him play when he was young, his passion and enthusiasm for the game was evident back then. Hope he has a great NHL career

Dudes getting $9.5M/year, don't really think he cares what the fans think, just the owners opinion matters unfortunately.

You guys do realize that Betmann is in the position to represent the team owners in the league. If he was as incompetent as many wish he was he'd be a footnote in the annals of NHL history.
I can't stand the man, but he does the job he's tasked with very well, what does that tell you about the mindset of the team owners.........

Bettman may be the most hated man in the NHL by hockey fans, he is however the most loved man by the owners. He does represent the NHL well, not many other people in the world could take the abuse in public he takes and still get the Tv deals he has brought to the league. He takes all the heat the owners should be taking. Do I like the man, absolutely not but I do respect the job he has done.

Boo's in the NHL, on, off the ice are considered your doing a great job.

Yup. Fans can boo Bettman instead of the local owners, who are the real ones putting the gun to the heads of local city councils. Katz and the local flames owners are the real ones saying (or who have said) "fork over the public tax dollars so we can make more money or we will leave". Owners get to continue to look like local heroes because of Bettman's straw man routine.

Seems to be a lot of opinions on a person, negative I might add, I can't say he is a dick or a Richard because I never met the fella, some form an opinion by never ever meeting a person and getting to know them, heck I have known people to say something bad about another and I turn around to find thier company enjoyable, just saying is all.
He does a job that got the NHL out of hot water a few times, not favourable to the fans at times but most can't see past thier nose anyways, just want,want, want and then when there is a lock out they freak out and have tantrums like two year olds but when the show is up and running they are like little fatties enjoying a hotdog...

Bettman has been great for the league, but the big loser is the spectator's wallet. I'm not a hockey fan but my kids are. We see a few games a year and l really resent how much it costs me. My boys think it's the greatest thing, so whatever.

I too don't like the price of those tickets so stick to the WHL which has been my go to fix for almost 30 years now.

Who does control the actual price of tickets?

Market forces. Good point on the WHL, the boys like Hitmen games almost as much. Especially when they go with their teams, rowdy little so and sos.
