What kind of heads do you use for gophers?

Blunts or Flew Flews ???...the ones with big feathers on the end to slow them down.
Then again some broadheads so you can stick them to the dirt hole they crawled out of.

I use Fender Washers behind a field point. The fender washers are 3/4" or an inch in diameter. They wack the gophers hard and the washer slows down a skip considerably. If the washers get bent just take them off and hit them flat with a hammer. I bought my last ones at Home Depot. A couple bucks buy lots.

Great idea with the washers. I just can't bring myself to drop $10+ on a small game head

Judo point, used to use G5 small game heads but because they are rigid they tend to snap off easier. The spring claws on a judo point seem to hold up better

Judos and rubber blunts. Those rubber blunts are very effective and make an awful mess. Not too many run down a hole after being hit with the blunt.

Anybody use these same options on migratory or uplands game birds? I have watched some YouTube videos and I'm curious what may be the best dual use for gophers and bird.

I've never hunted migratory with the bow, but I just started using judo points and flu flu arrows for grouse. Wasted 3-4 broadheads this year. Only took one shot at a grouse with them and I think I must have just knocked the feathers, because the bird flew off, seemingly unharmed! Hopefully the population is good again this year, I'd like to try again.

I like judos, put aluminum collars on your carbon arrow on both ends and it'll be indestructible. My record is 73 gophers in a day with the longbow and I've never broken an arrow set up with the collars on the ends.

Any pictures of an arrow with the collar?

Sorry I haven't any pics. There's charts online that will tell you the diameter of your carbon arrow, other charts give you the inside diameter of aluminum arrows. Find a piece of an aluminum that's the right size, cut off a inch or so and slip it over the end of the carbon with some 24 hour epoxy (the better the epoxy the longer it's gonna last). I do the nock. End too because nocks can drive foreward and split the arrow. Done in both ends you'll be amazed at the toughness of the arrow, I do all my hunting arrows like that too.

Whacking gophers with a bow is a lot of fun with judo's. You will want to make sure you carry a "gut rag" with you as the arrows do get a bit messy.

Me and my hunting partner use Judo and blunts on Flu Flu arrows for both grouse, gophers and squirrels. I personally prefer the Judos, as if you miss they are much easier to find as most of the time they will bounce up instead of wedging themselves deep into the ground.

Found these cool blunts on eBay last year. Worked really well and cheap too

Default Blunts

Hate to take money from hard working Archery dealers but you can epoxy a field tip in a 9mm or 357 casing ...works awesome on gophers, grouse and rabbits ...rim is wider than the shaft so if prevents hangups if you miss and hit the tree... enjoy

Also use arrows where the fletching is a color other than green....makes finding arrows a lot easier

Got this with the carbon express version of the judo.
