Default **shed thread 2017**

Found this one today. Wasn't really looking for sheds but it was in the middle of a creek we were cruising in northern AB

Well so much for the whitefish.! Nice horn there and don't doubt they shedding already. Was an oddball year from day one. Wondered if the moose and mature whiteys wouldn't shed early.

A friend was driving down a Busy road in town a few nights ago and found a freshie Whitetail shed laying on the road..4 ways came on and he ran out holding up traffic then spotted the match laying on the edge of the field not far away..easiest find ever.

Great shed but doesn't it count as a 2016 shed?

Nice. They sure look great when they still have their natural colour to them.

Hopefully next year I can get him shoulder mounted! 2017 is my year! This set is the second biggest I've ever laid my hands on. The other one is hanging on the shoulder already.

Very cool CE!!!
I watch a lot of bucks, take many pics, and pick up many sheds... but have never had things work perfectly in quick succession like that... in terms of getting the process recorded and then quickly finding the fresh set!
Congrats! Great job!

It was pure Dumb ass luck seeing him with the single the next day.. Far more likely to have not have seen him for 3 days.

He is heavy and thick.. Has a funny little g4 paddle I'll post shortly.

I assume you found this near home? if so that makes me very excited. I had good sized bucks on cam last year in April still carrying both sides. Never did find sheds from that property as I believe the bucks headed for spring/summer ground before they dropped.

Not exactly a shed but I got a nice 6 point elk antler after he broke it off fighting our Bulls.

Looks nice Northbuck, waiting for a picture of it out of the snow!

On a side note.. anyone have thoughts if this is the same guy? The smaller shed was found 3 years ago, about 2 miles of the bigger ones.

I would say its likely the same deer. The antler itself is very similar but the large difference in the burr has me a little on the fence.

size wise makes sense as you probably have the 2.5yr and the 3.5yr shed in hand.

Edit: I change my mind. I would say definitely after looking closer.

Would it change your mind at all if these antlers were found 3 years apart? not just 1?

The big ones this year are thick.. like almost coke can thick. and weigh about 3 lbs each.
