I won't knowingly eat it...get stuff tested.

Anyone not worried about it I have a bag set aside to be destroyed that tested positive, who wants it? Not me.

Just knowing how it's spreading I plan on voluntarily submitting heads no matter where I harvest them.

"7,000-15,000 CWD-infected animals are consumed in North America each year"

That is a scary figure. You gotta think it's just a matter of time.

or is that comforting? i mean that many animals consumed you might think they'd pick it up by now

yup thanks for the links, it's something we're going to be talking about a lot as research and time progresses and we learn more.

So i'm just about done my batch of Around the base elk taken 2 yrs ago. Just had yummy elk steaks this week on the BBQ. I'm sure I read that about a year after taking my elk, one had tested positive on the base. That's not far from where mine was taken. I have no way of knowing if mine could have it. Still eating it but it's on my mind for sure after reading this latest news. Mine was healthy looking and acting in all aspects but is that nasty prion in him?

And add to that, a very good neighbor of the parents, of which I knew well, recently died of Jackob Creutzfeldt disease or Mad cow.

I feel the risks are very low to contract but it makes you think.

Apparently yes, though I can't find the reference. Just tag it and drop it in one of the freezers - can't hurt. I'm thinking more about the value to science rather than protecting myself. Tough to know if it's spreading to new areas without data.

In this link post#4 gave information in regards to questions about your submitted heads. If the comment is true this is where your inquiry could go?
