Default Cheapest way to send money to US

I bought some parts in the US and need to get $800US to him. Private sale. PayPal wants about 4% exchange on the money plus some fees. Money wire thro the bank is $35 and requires I get all of the US person’s banking info.

Is there a better way?

how well you know the person and how reliable , you can alway send as family member on paypal i think it a only a few dollars, or just do the 4% you get paypal/creditcard protection

I know BMO offers e-transfers through western union. It is $8 plus 1% i believe. But have to trust other person as once the money is sent it is gone. I usee the other day for some graphic design work I had done by someone down in Texas. Anyone up here was easily double what she charged so the extra $20 was no big deal. But I already had most of the work in hand before sent funds so wasn't concerned. Plus she got cash in hand.

May not becthe cheapest, but was easiest for me

I use PayPal goods and services. To me its worth the small fee to get protection in case something isn't delivered or isn't as advertised.

I have a US MasterCard & sent US cash "Gifted" via PayPal, there's no exchange but there is a fee, I forget the %.

I've also sent a Wire Transfer from RBC, they charged about $35.00 USD and the recipient pays about the same to get the cash, another rip off. Yes, the recipient needs to provide you with all his banking/account info.

Have you considered a US Bank Draft some call it a Cashiers Cheque, based on the amount you mentioned it may only be a US Money Order, most banks don't charge for the draft, you can send by mail $1.47 or courier. I believe I paid $37.00 CDN to send an envelope by Purolator from Sylvan to California, it got there in 4 days.

Trust the foregoing was useful.

Cheers

David

You can send an Outgoing Online Money Transfer to the U.S. and 200 other countries yourself. The Royal Bank charges $13.50 no matter how much money you send, other banks have different fee structures, I think the one I sent through ATB was $11. I have done this a number of times and it is very easy. It is also very secure. Sort of the Worldwide version of EMT but using the wire system.

This will be cheaper than getting and mailing a draft as well as far faster. WAY cheaper than Western Union, PayPal and the like.

Go to the bank and get $800 USD cash. Put it in an envelope and throw it in the mail.

Joking.

Yesterday I sent 290.00 USD to a guy in the States (Pinto parts )

Came to 400.51 CDN.

Pay Pal took 13.00 from him for the transaction.

On the bill : Conversion rate: 1 CAD = 0.724 USD

If you have money you want to send to USA JUST SEND IT TO ME...…… I get USA retirement into my Bank here in Alberta so they are well versed on converting and I kind of watch the exchange rates to try to get the best deal possible...but sometimes ya just gotta convert like if the electric bill needs to be paid..... Keg is not too keen on the house being dark because his wife is watching the US dollar to Canadian dollar exchange rate...………..
