Default Who else is planning to be at Wainwright for primitive weapons?

Would be great to swap numbers and try to help each other out.

I know it’s pretty easy to guesstimate draw success based on previous years draw summaries and ones current priority, but you’d probably have better luck with this post after draw results are out. Hunt is still 6 months away as well.

You must be excited. Good luck.

Fun Hunt. Unfortunately I was drawn 2 years ago so I will have to wait about 5 more years as it seems to take a priority 6 to get. lol

We will be in there. More than enough priority. I think its our 6th time going for the 'muzzle-loader' hunt.

According to last year I have a 50/50 chance for a muzzle loader bull this year, last year we saw a drop tine bull that I would have shot in a heartbeat had I not had a cow tag.

x2 on the fun hunt.

The primitive hunt is so much fun. When I went the snow was up to my crotch and -27C but I managed a respectable whitetail with a roundball and peep sights.

Yes !!! We got our moose draws, both antlered and antlerless as well as deer! Looks like I might need to buy another muzzleloader and freezer 😁

Now that the draw results have been released, anyone else going for the primitive weapons season ?

This will be our first time on the base, is there anywhere to store your meat in town or do guys just leave me in the back of the truck ?

We have an SUV and we're thinking about possibly bringing a utility trailer to haul it home.

I am unaware of any place to hang your meat especially with the cwd concerns. Most leave them in there truck and cover them properly to keep birds etc off them. You can bring a trailer without issue. I have seen lots of people leave them at the check station and fill them up after if they are successful. Give the base biologist a call he will be able to answer more of your questions

Thanks ! I was hoping we could leave our utility trailer at the check station. I'll call the base to confirm.

Booking hotels early is a good idea. Sometimes the oilfield is busy and hotels fill up fast. I got lucky and married a girl from Wainwright so I always have a place to stay
