Monanhan did absolutely nothing there.. So much didn't deserve a penalty. Unless being a Crosscheck to the face dummy is now a call?

Shouldn't he have gotten a double minor then?

On a side note, wonder if coaching changes are coming in San Jose and Nashville soon. They finished 2nd and 3rd in the West last year, respectively, and are currently sitting at 11th and 12th in the West.

I dunno, depends on the quality of the skeletons in their respective closets

A good hockey night. Too bad Hawks are getting plucked by Vegas so far, or all the stars would have lined up. But 6 wins is very sweet, points in last 8. Nice job Flames. Fun to watch again, and I will say Talbot had a very solid night tonight imo.

We were out shot and Talbot did his part. Back to back maybe a little gassed? Either way they handled a good team ahead of them in the standings. They have closed the gap. Seen lots of good things out there. Rinaldo can hit man, he crushed another guy tonight. Frolik scored two in a row, Lloooch boom, the man can't be stopped now. Haha
All in all a very good hockey night, Oil are dropping games left and right, Drai looks horrible last few games. McD and him being help off the score sheet, other than a few apples. We're in good shape after a rocky start,
Bring on the Leafs.

Thats a hell of a road trip against 2 tier one teams.

We are now 2 points out of first and at even games. But seems we have a harder schedule over the next 3 games..

Good looking team. It is going to be so much fun over taking that team from the north. Its almost like the hockey gods are toying with them...

Don't think I mentioned the season. Pretty sure I said LAST FEW GAMES..
So I will ask you is the heavy ice time we were talking about a while back, catching up to them?? Tough to sustain that amount of work over a whole season. I know you guys think you have depth, but when the two big dogs aren't getting it done your not winning. If they are burning out what's the rest of the season looking like??

They were 10 points ahead of anyone else for the first 25 games and they are still 8 points ahead of 3rd place MacKinnon. They are producing at the same or better rate then any other elite players in the league. If you have watched the last 2 games I believe the direct hit post count is at about 6 or 7. Some bad puck luck right now. Flames fans should be able to appreciate that with the start to your season. Oilers are a pleasant surprise and no one had them doing this well. We knew it wouldn't be sustained and the playoffs are not guaranteed yet.

Calgary is on a nice run, Oilers had a nice run early. Need to get back to .650 hockey and we will be fine.

So much concern for the Oilers around here.... must be Christmas!

Just asking a fan his thought's is all, for from concerned, Since we are counting hitting posts, Michael Backlund is the poster boy for posts and bad puck luck. Jankowski can't buy a goal or a point.
Why is it when Oilers hit a slump it's just a slump and no worries, but when Flames have a rough go were done for it's over?? LOL

2 reasons

1. Flames were expected to do really well this year

and

2. The Flames fans are the hardest on their own team. It was 10 games into the season and the "trade Brody" talk started. Most of the Oilers guys were actually saying the Flames would eventually come out of their slump.

Phillips was called up due to Chucky's absence. Hope he gets a chance to play and makes the best of it.

The Flames have a few young guys to sign after this season, notably Mangiapane, Andersson and Kylington.

I suspect that they will try to unload Frolik and one of Hamonic/Brodie at the deadline in order to get a couple of draft picks and some much needed cap space.

Of course, a strong finish to the season could change a team's plans.

I'm thinking it's practically a certainty that, if they aren't traded, Frolik and Brodie aren't coming back. That clears up nearly $9M, and as much as I like Mangiapane and Kylington, they likely aren't getting big money. Mangiapane had 13 pts last year, is on pace for 26 pts this year, and Kylington is a 6th/7th Dman. Anderson will likely take some cash to get signed though.

Yep

Andersson (RFA) is showing good progression. Will probably get a decent bump in salary. Bridge type deal, imo.

Mangiapane (RFA) had very strange contract negotiations this year. Took a one year deal. Small bump for him. The guy has potential and the Flames need to treat him fairly.

Kylington (RFA) has a lot of potential, but he tends to make a lot of mistakes. More experience might clean up his game. Small bump, similar to Mangiapane.

Jankowski (RFA) is interesting. Former first rounder. Decent first two years. This year is not going well. The remainder of the year will determine if they keep him or try to unload him.

It'll be good for the Flames to have some cap space as long as Treliving doesn't get it in his head to sign a UFA this summer.

Where do we put Bennet, and Czarnik, when they return? Who comes out of the lineup? Or who goes down to the A.
