Default Lake Winnipeg disaster

3 trucks, 2 people, a trailer go through ice on Lake Winnipeg Sunday

Default It must be Global Warming

I just blame global warming. Maybe Manitoba should increase there carbon tax so things like this dont happen in the future.

Yup. Been on the ice at that spot a couple of times.

That is what happens when you are a generation raised by the internet and the quest to be first for photo ops

Lucky nobody drowned! I’m kinda surprised there’s 15” of ice and that’s about how thick I like it for walking on, nvm driving a vehicle...

And then they still get coverage from autopac
They should not be covered for that.
Another reason our rates go up.

The issue on Lake Wpg is the wind. Moves the ice around creating pressure ridges. Normally you could launch the space shuttle with 15” of ice.

Was a 3/4 ton on the ice at Driedmeat lake last sat ice was about 11” was my estimate

Always found it amazing how the ice moves with the wind. Had a bay froze over here a few weeks ago, wind came out and there wasn’t a bit of ice left.

Does lake Winnipeg freeze over completely?

Yup and generally you need an auger extension by late Jan
