Default If you had $2500 for an Alberta hunting rifle...

If you had $2500 for a single rifle to hunt Alberta with what would it be. No optics. Just a rifle for Alberta hunting that comes in under $2500. Doesn't have to be practical. Just something you like. The only catch is you have to give a link to the rifle.

I don't have $2500 burning a hole in my pocket, but if I did this is the one I'd be ordering in the morning...

https://store.prophetriver.com/sako-...1a-s-n-p10450/

Not so nice you'd be scared to drag it through the bush, but nice enough for the boys to look at it and say "damn!"

This is just a timekiller of a thread, written solely out of curiosity to see what other guys like. That's all.

Nice rifle, but $2400 is getting up there for a factory rifle.

Exactly what I did with a doner Remington action, built a beautiful 6.5 x 284 great shooter and no one has the same rig. Custom barrel, custom stock, aftermarket trigger.. Also bout $1800.00.

A Christensen Arms in 300 win.

https://www.greatnorthprecision.com/Mesa

Only put 16 rounds through mine so far, but it seems promising.

For $2500 I would probably pick up a Bergara Highlander in .280AI for 500-750$ less than the $2500. (USA MSRP is $1850)

Unfortunately in Alberta I couldn't bring my suppressor so I'll just stay here in Montana and Wyoming. lol

Default Easy!

Mannlicher schoenauer 1950-53, full stock carbine with DST, iron sights and Claw mounts in 7x64.
And I'm done!
One of the best rifles ever made and cash to spare.

A Sako 85 Bavarian

https://www.sako.fi/rifles/sako-85/85-bavarian

A Sako Grey Wolf

https://www.sako.fi/rifles/sako-85/8...ated-stainless

Or a Kimber 84L Classic Stainless Select (it’s discontinued but maybe I can find a nice used example someday. I once had one in .280 AI but unfortunately I had to sell it)

https://www.ableammo.com/catalog/kim...-p-127244.html

Or even a Winchester Super Grade Stainless; I wished they existed going back a number of years and then found out they came around to making them a year or two ago.

http://www.winchesterguns.com/produc...stainless.html

Of course any of these would be chambered in .30-06

I honestly don’t think I have a rifle younger than fifty years old, and I cannot think of a new off-the-rack rifle that I’d spend that kind of money on.

I’d probably track down another really nice commercial FN or L61R SAKO.

I'd run with the one I had built last month...

It ain't the diamond rifle, but it ain't no lump of coal either.

Smooth LH bolt and deadly accurate...

👍

A new Model 70 extreme weather in 30-06. Then spend the rest of the budget on the optics.

I would buy these. I know someone selling the package deal with less than 2 boxes of ammo through it for $2500 plus 10 boxes of factory ammo
