Default How to illuminate & eliminate enemies tanks

This is pretty effective. Wonder if Canada has any in their arsenal.

We use TOW missiles. Tube launched Optically tracked Wire guided. They come in a sealed tube and string two wires behind them that allows the guy behind it to steer it to the target. The bad thing for the guy behind it is he is exposed while the missile is in flight.

I'm not sure if Canada uses fire and forget missiles.
They all use a shaped charge that burns a hole through armor causing the rounds or fuel or both to cook off and make being inside a very bad place to be as you can see in the vid.

Whats the range of the TOW missiles? the tracked wire must be tiny and robust so it doesn't kink and break.

Bout 4200M. Only time I ever saw a TOW in country was on a Bradley Stryker or an 1114. I imagine most guys using them these days would be in a Cav Scout position and need to be mobile. They sure are fun to see fired though.

TOW is so 60's. That's some old tech, built for old tanks. Except for track, armour is quite sophisticated these days. Using TOW today is much akin to standing up to find the snipers direction.

There is so much wrong with that video description I don't know where to start.

First off, it's a remote controlled tank (Leopard) in a trial from some years back testing a Milan missile system and nowhere near Syria or Israel.

You can not use white phosphorous to penetrate armour nor can it be used in conjunction with a HEAT round.

Thanks for clarifying Hat in the Cat.

I sort of thought it might be an unmanned tank. I don't really like to see someone's demise. I didn't really focus on the caption but was more impressed by the shot and result. There are some pretty cool tank training vids online.

Last time I checked TOWs cost about 60 Grand each , could buy a nice truck for that.
