Default Amazing electric scooter

So I’ve been going to edworthy park to walk up and down that big hill, hunting season is coming and I’m a slug. Anyway last time I was there I was standing at the top trying to stuff a lung back into my chest, I turned around and they’re was this electric scooter coming up. This is a seriously steep hill, I’d have never thought a scooter could do that. I chatted with the kid and he says it’ll easily do it and it doesn’t drain the battery all that much, it also does 70 KM/Hr on those all terrain tires.

It’s a “Cabo Wolf” And he imported it from China I searched for it online and all I can come up with is $2000.00...too many clams for me. I get the impression that he paid a lot less for it though but I’m not sure of his source.

Took the top and doors off the Jeep and went for a cruise last night. Ended up on Jasper ave and the sidewalks are littered with these electric scooters the city owns you commission with a credit card and app. When your done you just dump it wherever you want. I must have missed the newsstory on those things lol. Lots of people own them in Sherwood Park. “Screw exercise” seems to be the narrative nowadays ....

You lost me at ‘imported from China’. Surely there have to be some good options made in democratic nations that aren’t actively bullying the rest of the world while undertaking every conceivable type of espionage against them?

I like the e-bike concept where you can cycle normally or with the electric assist. I looked up that Kaabo and they look fun, but I think I’d prefer a bike for the ability to cycle normally as well as larger diameter wheels for better ease in dealing with high obstacles. That being said the scooters would be easier to fit in smaller vehicles...

Interesting ❗

But if someone wanted to go 'electric', I would think a full sized Electric Bike (eBike) would be a lot more useful & practical ... especially for adults. Something like this one 👇

Soon to be replaced by e-scooter or e-bike.

I wonder how how many intoxicated individuals give these a go after the bars let out? If it’s an issue the city probably does it’s best to cover it up. Mayor Iveson is all about bike paths and e scooters. Quite the legacy.....

Calgary got scores of hospital visits from them last year.
It’s a great transportation option though..I see people using the green ones everywhere.

Those are all over Calgary too, I read an article about how they pay peopel to recharge the batteries on them. One company that does the scooters, Lime, calls their charging contractors "lime juicers" and there is s set fee for charging them. People go around and pick up the units, charge them, and then drop them off wherever (I imagine they'd not want them all at the same spot, but a few here and a few there). Perhaps a reasonable gig for a high school lad with a pickup or an SUV that can carry lots of the things at once. With the set price per charge, of course scaling up to do many would be the way to make it pay reasonably.

Those scooters are a blast! They are all over Europe, we used them in Spain, Portugal, Holland and even Russia! They were especially helpful in Lisbon with its steep hills....

I’ve seen two dues doubled-up on one riding on 10th St in Kensington. They look like awesome ways for drunks to get concussions, or worse!

Yeah that’s what I was thinking. Jasper ave has a lot of busy night clubs and lounges. Won’t be long before a traffic fatality happens with a city supplied scooter. I imagine to get the App you would have to complete an online waiver??

Looks like fun. The cabo wolf has 40 mile/65 km. range. It weighs around 100 lbs. So you wouldn't want to run it down to be pushing it home. Go uphill at first so coming back would be downhill. No bush whacking with small tires at least. More like an urban toy. I'd want to wear full leathers riding one.

A Phat Scooter looks more manageable and has a seat. Only 20 mph and has a 30 to 50 mile range.

I just bought a "Rad City" e bike and man oh man I wish I would have bought it sooner. It has 9 speeds and 5 assist's, you still have to pedal but its easier. 70 kilcs to a charge and a throttle to help out if its a really steep hill. $1900.00. Factory fenders, head light, rear flashing brake light and front shocks. And did I mention free delivery. Most local shops are at around 3 to 4 thousand with half the features.

Ya they’re cool too. There’s a guy in our neighbourhood who’s made one to look like a military bike. Got a gas. Mask hanging off it and he wears a bit of military clothing It’s all olive drab etc.

I also have a buddy who lives in Bowness and his friend makes the gas powered bikes, he replaces the heads and some other stuff and they friggen go like stink.

So I was on a forum about these converted bikes and there was a guy telling a story about a friend who was killed on one when the frame collapsed at speed. Makes sense, bikes aren’t built for that kind of thing..something to consider I guess when retrofitting.

Yes I see a lot of those retrofitted mountain bikes with the gas engines on the Facebook Market place. Don’t think I’d be picking one up for little Johnny. They seem to be a backyard mechanics dog’s breakfast. Not that safe in my books...

I would bet it's a very low paying gig like Skip The Dishes, just a hunch.

You mile out your own vehicle and in this case use your own electricity to charge them after paying $20 each for the chargers. Between wear and tear, gas, electricity and your time I'm betting it's equal to a minimum wage gig after beating up and mile'ing out your vehicle.

Got myself a rad rover last winter and I'm loving it. The wife can hop on too and join me for longer distance rides on my normal bike. The rad city has regenerative braking too eh? Great product, can't be beat on value.
