Default Longview Jerkey Shop - Damn!!

Decided to get the hell out of the $h!t$how that has been Canmore these past few weeks and head south to the CNP. Passing through Longview, we saw the jerky shop and decided to pick up some road snacks. Holy cow - so good!! We tried the Pioneer Style Buffalo and Pioneer Style original (both gluten free for my wife) and they were top notch!

Needless to say, on the way back home we picked up a lot more.

Just found out they do mail order -

I just checked out their website. So what is the difference between the Longview style and the Pioneer style jerky? They have a lot of unique flavours that’s for sure.

Not sure. I just asked what their most popular gluten free selections were and they recommended those. Both did not disappoint.

And 20$ for 300g is a a fair price for excellent jerky. I won't be buying grocery store jerky again!

The owner Tom Kirk is a really good dude.

A really close friend of mine grew up with him, we do an annual trip down the Highwood River in a cheap little dingy. We always stop in to see him and he LOADS us up with the good stuff every time.

Len is the Dad,he started the business. They used to process more wild meat every fall than you could imagine. Hundreds & hundreds of big game animals. They also used to custom butcher beef. I've never seen anyone pull the hide off a steer & stay cleaner. Len was quite the hunter & fisherman also, ran into him out in the hills lots every fall!

The packaged Longview jerky in the stores is OK but I found buying it fresh from the jerky shop it was much better

This is just going off memory, as it's been a couple years since i was through there last, but I seem to remember that one style was ground jerky, and the style was cut jerky.
I apologize if i'm totally out to lunch on that.

Both ours were "Pioneer" and both seemed cut, not ground.

I had some deer done up a few years ago into jerkey there. It was costly but worth every cent as my kids ate it every day in their lunch, it vanished within 2 months. thumbs up for sure if anyone wants a premium product.

Picked up a couple of ribeye steaks there last week. They were the best I've had in a long time. Good price too.
