Default Kyle Dubas Out as Leafs GM

Well the house cleaning has begun for the Maple Leafs. Kyle Dubas has been ousted as GM as team president Brendan Shanahan announced they will not be renewing his contract. Sounds like this is the first of many changes for the Maple Leafs. Will the coach Sheldon Keefe be the next one to get axed?

Keefe is next. The 4 core does not work. 2004 Lightning were the last with Lecavier. St. Louis, Richards but they were not pulling 12m a season and they delivered the goods.

This is not a surprise and I would think that Sheldon Keefe is also walking the plank as we speak

I think Calgary could do worse.

I say send Matthews back to his hometown, being Phoenix. May save the franchise, and Toronto should get a good return for him...hehe...

I bet Marner will be gone though...

Maybe the flamers could double down and get Dubas and Keefe, I'm sure he will be the next guy to fall in leaf's nation Jason Spezza has resigned and the Marlies have fired the entire coaching staff, lots to pick from

Seems like there was a bit of a power struggle between the president and GM. Shanahan says it was his decision to fire Dubas. Quite the illuminating interview he provided to the media. Also, he was the one who hired Dubas and nine years later after grooming and developing him he fires him.
There may be a Flames connection to the story too. One possible GM candidate for the Leafs might be Brad Treliving. Stranger things have happened.

Well it is official the Brad Treliving is now the new GM for the Maple Leafs. Wonder if Conroy will get a call from his old boss about making some player trades.

Marner for Lindholm, straight across!

That would be a great trade. Leafs get to do a salary dump, and Marner would be a major shot in the arm for rejuvenating Huberdeau's game.

If the Leafs are smart, they'll send Treliving on a two week holiday just before free agency opens.
In many regards Treliving is a good GM but that guy has made some really poor free agent signings.

When the Leafs announced that Kyle Dubas was not returning, Elliotte Friedman said that they were looking for a GM 'with bite', one that was not afraid to make tough decisions. Is Treliving that guy?
