personally, I quit hunting huns at the end of November. I think it's not in their favor to have extended the season into January a few years back.

I'm trying upland for the first time this year because the deer chase wasn't enough for me this season. not much luck yet

but your posts are the most inspirational

I even like to bite your writing style because it is heartwarming but concise and to the point

next I'll try to copy your hunting style

Personally, I will not shoot huns at any time of the year in the area that I live in. They are few and far between. Between lose of cover, predators, and extended hunting seasons, they have taken a beating. I can’t understand how extended seasons can do anything but harm to the populations. If there was an abundance of upland game in a given area, then O.K., but when you travel the backroads on a daily basis, and very seldom see a covey of huns, like maybe once every couple of months, why would we want to extend the season on them. Makes zero sense too me.

I was out today looking around for some ruffies , I did not see any birds but saw a lot of predator tracks , Linx , wolf mostly.

I came across this guy on the side of the road. I stopped and put the window down , he wasn’t bothered at all . He was staring intently at a hole in the snow where I assume hi next meal was hiding.

There's several WMU's where you can hunt cow elk with a draw until Jan 20 too.

Through the years I never intentionally hunted grouse or huns after it snowed a foot.

Great pics of foxy Jungleboy.

Where there's good cover for ruffies, spruce grouse and ptarmigan, research has clearly shown that hunting pressure has little impact on bird numbers. By far, it's weather. Wet springs and icy winters.

That’s so cool Jungleboy! We went out today too, saw linx, coyote and lots of deer and elk tracks. Got one ruffy that was roosting at the end of the day. Haven’t seen no birds on a ground at all!
Got our Xmas trees and went home happy.
