I wasn’t going to bother posting as there isn’t much story here at all. Work had me tied up for most of the fall. I was seriously behind the eight ball with scouting. Had to run my daughter to her swimming lesson after school, so I was in a bad time crunch to get in a tree with the bow. Opted for a likely field edge with the slug gun instead. He came right by the stand I would have been in with the bow. I wasn’t able to tell exactly what he had with the trees and shadows as a background. Just a big frame. When he dipped his head as a couple does approached, I saw the bigger side clearly and decided I best get off the binos and kill him before I ran out of legal light. Which I did promptly and that is the result. No history. No trail camera photos. Just a piece of ground I’ve hunted for years and having a pretty good idea where I needed to be. Same piece of ground, the same day and within minutes of the same time that I took my double dropper with the slug gun six years ago. He goes 167 3/8 as he sits. Had he been even, he could have pushed up over 180” but whatever. I love him. Sorry for the crappy photos. In the headlights isn’t the best condition.

I seem to have spent about half of my november trying to get new hunters deer so I'm hoping this gives me some of that good karma for next season.

My 14 year old nephew shot his first deer ever monday, quite the first deer, hes hooked now.

This deer had a cracked skull at the base of one antler and a busted lower jaw/teeth. I'd like to see the deer he was sparring with.

Last weekends hunt. 85 yr old uncle took his on Saturday and my son took his on Sunday. Biggest buck the old guys ever got as he is a meat hunter, first deer/buck my son has taken. A beauty hunt. Thread running in the hunting section.

Beauty buck Lou. Only the Whelen could have made him nicer.

Beauty Buck Big Lou! As well as props to ALL those that got the kids and the grizzled veterans out on some animals! (Dirt Shooter, Sooner, and everyone else) I have good friend whose taken a serious interest in hunting later in life and I really need to make it a priority to get him out. Tag soup I think for me and my boys unless I can squeak in time maybe Sunday close to town. One of those years where things just didn't line up so far

And so nice to read a positive thread, I love this thread each year. So tired of some of the others. (Seems we can't even suggest a set bino's without someone's feelers being hurt or being a disrespectful donkey about how we make that suggestion......... but I digress

Good luck all in the remaining days we have!

Default Nov 13th

I decided to set up a pop up ground blind on the west cut-line on my property. I found a nice spot under a couple spruce trees that gave some natural cover. Limbed a few branches so I could see up and down the cut-line in each direction. I shot a doe there on Nov 5th at about 30 yards so I figured I'd try again. It was about 9:30 am when another doe stopped on the cutline and stared me down. Since I had already filled my second supplemental the week before I decided to let her pass and see if there was anything coming behind her. Sure enough not 1 minute later walks this guy. He didn't stop on the trail, but 4 steps off the trail in the brush. When I looked through the scope the first thing I noticed was the width but couldn't see all the headgear as it blended in with all the brush. I could only see his neck as his head was turned, looking directly at me. Standing only 25 yards away I knew I didn't have much time so off goes the safety. I let the 7mm 168grain accubond out to make it's mark. Game over, whitetail season has ended with plenty of meat in the freezer. Been a great november for me. Thanks everyone for sharing. Figured it's about time I shared one.

2021 bush buck

Enjoy the pics and stories so figured I’d add. Was a good year in the big bush. Great times with friends and family. Seen plenty of deer and a few good ones too. Folded my tag on this guy yesterday, couldn’t pass him up.

Nice deer!
I know of some very big animals over the years taken with the Enfield chambered in .303 Brit., one being a World record moose
